Lockjaw, a recent commission piece, by Canadian artist Tom Fowler. Tom’s diverse career has encompassed advertising, game design and the movie industry. His comic credits include Mad Magazine, Green Arrow, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight and Mysterius: The Unfathomable. A regular at the collective sketch blog, Comic Twart, Tom has recently contributed two fantastic depictions of The Thing, which are presented below with kind permission. Comic Twart – The Thing

Ben Grimm, the ever lovin’ blue eyed Thing, is this week’s choice at the collective sketch blog, Comic Twart. Aunt Petunia’s favorite Nephew was chosen by Evan ‘Doc’ Shaner, whose fantastic contribution above features no less than five Kirby creations.

This dynamic rescue scene, which also features Reed Richards, comes from the brush of Francesco Francavilla. Francesco’s pulp inspired artwork has graced the pages of Zorro, The Black Coat, Sorrow and the forthcoming Garrison. He is the creator of Black Beetle, whose adventures can be found every Sunday at Franceso’s blog, Pulp Sunday. The Thing in Steel

This 2ft tall 400lb steel bust of the ever lovin’ blue eyed Thing is by Wisconsin steel fabricator Steve F/BrokenHill. Ben Grimm and Jack Kirby’s work have been a major influences on Steve’s art ever since 6th grade. You can follow the evolution of this fantastic piece over at the PencilJack forum, where you can also find some of Steve’s drawings. Additionally, be sure to take a look at Steve’s DeviantArt page where you’ll find more of his steelwork sculpture.

The Thing vs The Hulk

The Thing and The Hulk in a head to head bout courtesy of Rusty Shackles. Rusty is currently working on The Hard Ones, a new title coming soon from Action Age Comics. He also the regular artist for War Rocket Ajax‘s weekly podcast. Rusty is a bit of a boxing fan and drew inspiration for this piece from an original Ali-Frazer poster which can be found here. Thing Fang Foom

Convention sketches courtesy of New Zealand born/UK resident Roger Langridge. Harvey, Eisner, Ignatz and Reuben Award-nominated Roger is most associated with his webcomic creation, Fred the Clown. Behold Benjamin Jacob Grimm from the pen of Scott Godlewski. Scott, who resides in Arizona, is the co-creator of the independently published ‘Mysterious Adventure Magazine‘. More of Scott’s work can be found at his blog and DeviantArt.
