Here’s a couple of images inspired by web-trailers featuring Kirby characters by Jay Piscopo. First up, Jay gives us his vision of The Mighty Thor from forthcoming movie.

And below Jay draws inspiration from Premakes: The Avengers, a trailer which has been beamed in from an alternate 1952 here.

British illustrator Jonathan Edwards made his debut in the influential comic magazine Deadline. Since then has forged a successful career as a commercial illustration and a long standing relationship with The Guardian newspaper providing editorial art. He is also the curator of Draw Serge, an illustrative tribute blog dedicated to the French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. You can find more of Jonathan’s energetic work at his website and blog.

Pop-art portraits of The Avengers by L.A. based graphic designer and Illustrator Geo. Most known as an art director, Geo has designed, produced and managed projects for the Brazilian live entertainment community. He sites Jack Kirby as one of his most important artistic influences and you can find more of his work over at DeviantArt.

Keep Calm

Flame on

Steve Finch, AKA Fonographics, breathes new life into the much imitated Keep Calm and Carry On poster which was issued by the British Ministry of Information during the Second World War. Steve’s inspired take on this design classic is currently available to purchase from Zazzle.

Comic Twart – The Thing

Ben Grimm, the ever lovin’ blue eyed Thing, is this week’s choice at the collective sketch blog, Comic Twart. Aunt Petunia’s favorite Nephew was chosen by Evan ‘Doc’ Shaner, whose fantastic contribution above features no less than five Kirby creations.

This dynamic rescue scene, which also features Reed Richards, comes from the brush of Francesco Francavilla. Francesco’s pulp inspired artwork has graced the pages of Zorro, The Black Coat, Sorrow and the forthcoming Garrison. He is the creator of Black Beetle, whose adventures can be found every Sunday at Franceso’s blog, Pulp Sunday. Skadoosh!! The Incredible Hulk slugs it out with Galactus, courtesy of Toronto based artist/designer/animator Darren Rawlings. This is just one of a series of knockout bouts starring the Hulk that Darren created for his ‘March Madness’ month over at his blog. Be sure to visit Darren’s website for links to all of his projects including his webcomic, The life of Rex Bunyan and the graphic novel series, Agent Orange.

Kirby animated character designs by Spanish writer/artist Victor Santos. Victor is the creator of the Spanish language graphic novels Pulp Heroes, Black Kaiser, Lone in Heaven and The Elven Kings. His recent move into the US market has seen his art grace the pages of Vertigo Crime’s Filthy Rich and Image’s Mice Templar: Destiny. You can find a wealth of Victor’s fabulous artwork at his website and blog.
