Many Happy Returns of Fin Fang Foom

Marvel Two-in-One #74

A three pronged homage here, The Thing and Puppetmaster battle the Island of Mis-fit Toys (from the Rankin/Bass production, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer) in a re-creation of Frank Springer‘s cover for Marvel Two-in-One #74. Penciled and inked by Jeff Potter and colored by Wheeler Hall, it’s a perfect reminder that the holiday season is just around the corner. You can find more of Jeff’s art at his blog and check out Wheeler’s OK-Panic blog, a showcase for upcoming artists.

Super Adaptoid & Fandom Strikes Again

Thomas Perkins makes a quick return to the blog with two wonderful pieces. First up we have Super Adaptoid, one of Thomas’ all time favorite weird villains. That’s followed by a Fantastic Four tribute, The Quantum Quartet, created for friend of Kirby-Vision, Evan Shaner.

…and now a message from our sponsors

In classic Marvel tradition Nick Roberts asks, What if… the Human Torch started endorsing Dockers in return for a pair of asbestos trousers? Nick is a marketeer by day and a cartoonist by night and you can find more of his artwork and the occasional essay on vintage illustration at his blog, here.

Repaneled

Repaneled is a brand new blog curated by Anthony Vukojevich where artists are invited to redraw their favorite comic book panels. With a tip of the hat to Robert Goodin’s Covered blog the site already boasts a number of Jack Kirby inspired pieces including this one by Kerry Callen.

Original art by Jack Kirby & Herb Trimpe, repaneled from Captain America’s Bicentennial Battles.

Galactus
