Thing Sculpt

Thing-Finished

The Thing rocks in clay courtesy of John Catania. John writes:
“The Thing has always been my favorite comic book hero and I decided I wanted to try to sculpt him. Here is the finished product. I used hanger wire and some tape to create a pose then some aluminum foil to add bulk and then I used Sculpy clay over that. This is the first sculpt I’ve ever done and I thought it came out pretty well”.

Rob’s source material for his portrait comes from an unpublished Machine Man page (click to enlarge). Rob writes, “The character in the 3rd panel is Dr. Peter Spalding. I thought he looked a little like Jack with his pipe so I added inks.”

Thing Collage Returns

Way back in January Kirby-Vision featured Loston Wallace‘s black and white commision piece, Thing Collage. Loston has now very kindly forwarded two very different colour treatments of the piece which we present for your viewing pleasue. Below you will find Matt Webb‘s rendition which utilises the sort of colour palette widely used on 1960s comic covers. This is followed by Steve Downer who brings his impressive digital skills to the artwork. Great jobs by both artists we’re sure you’ll agree.
