I’m sure most readers have read the story of the Kirbys meeting Paul and Linda McCartney due to the Wings song “Magneto and Titanium Man”, and seen the McCartney/Magneto drawing that Kirby gave them, either in THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR or KIRBY: KING OF COMICS. The Kirby Museum Gallery has some interesting multi-media additions to the story, several colour photos of the backstage meeting, a fan-made audio recording of Paul McCartney introducing the song that night, and a video recording of the song as performed that night.

I still always wonder what it would be like to be able to read the Fourth World books without any prior knowledge of the character. By the time I read the originals I already knew what the truth of those rumours about Orion were, and read the hints with that knowledge. Did readers of the time realize what the deal was prior to “The Pact”?
Anyway, always love those scenes where Orion’s more savage nature force their way out.

Upcoming Kirby – Golden Age Cap v2

It’s taken about three years, but here’s another set of four issues of the S&K series. Some of the material is previously unreprinted, but I don’t think that stuff was drawn by Kirby. How has Marvel restoration of golden age material been recently? I recall some of the first few Masterworks books going back to the 1940s had reports of spotty reproduction.
