Mark Evanier posts that he’s in the home-stretch of compiling content for his upcoming KIRBY: KING OF COMICS tome. If you have a Kirby original that you think the book wouldn’t be complete without, and can provide a high quality scan quickly, now is the time to contact Evanier about it.

-Link- Kirby panel overview
Comic Book Resources has an article about the Kirby panel at the recent San Diego Con. Sounds like some interesting stuff coming up, including info about THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR #50 and a hint of something upcoming from Joe Simon. A full transcript of the panel will presumably show up in a future TJCK as previous ones have.
-Link- Larsen on upcoming books
Erik Larsen talks about some of the upcoming revivals of Kirby created (and Kirby Estate owned) concepts over at Image, including the previously announced CAPTAIN VICTORY collection, possible collections and completions of the Topps published material of the 1990s and all new material.

Mark Evanier has his usual packed panel schedule for the San Diego Comic-Con up. Many interesting things, but of course none more interesting than this usual entry:
Sunday, July 29
10:30 AM – 11:45 AM / Room 1AB
THE ANNUAL JACK KIRBY TRIBUTE PANEL
Once again, we stop to talk of the man they call “The King of the Comics.” This time, talking Kirby will be NEIL GAIMAN, DARWYN COOKE, ERIK LARSEN, MIKE ROYER and members of the Kirby family, with previews of upcoming Kirby projects and a few surprises.

-Link- Kirby documentary reviewed
The new FANTASTIC FOUR DVD with an extended version of the 2005 movie is out, and includes the one hour documentary JACK KIRBY: STORYTELLER. Gary Sassaman has a review of the documentary:
All in all, “Jack Kirby: Storyteller” is probably the best comic book documentary I’ve ever seen. Like Kirby’s drawing style, it starts at the upper left corner and fills the page with an incredible vision of who the man–as an artist, husband, father, and comic book god–was.

TwoMorrows, publisher of THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR, is offering free downloads of PDF copies of sample issues of some of their recent publications today and tomorrow, including TJKC #47. Good chance to check out the mag if you haven’t before.
JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR #47
In JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR #47, we explore Jack’s group mentality, as we focus on Kirby’s SUPER TEAMS! From kid gangs and the Challengers of the Unknown, to big guns like the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers, and even Super Powers, we’ll cover them all, and present plenty of never-seen 1960s Marvel pencil art! Also included is a rare KIRBY interview, MARK EVANIER’s regular column, two pencil art galleries, a complete never-reprinted 1950s story, an interview with “The Disappointment Artist” author Jonathan Lethem about Kirby’s influence on him, and an interview with JOHN ROMITA, JR. on his work with NEIL GAIMAN revamping Kirby’s ETERNALS! It’s all sandwiched between an obscure 1960s Marvelmania front cover inked by Kirby himself, and a rare Super Powers back cover inked by MIKE ROYER! Edited by John Morrow.
