Admin – Scanner issues…

Been having some scanner issues and no time to address them this past week, which have kept me from getting back to regular posting. Should be fixed up soon, but if anyone has some advice on models of decent and inexpensive flatbed scanners, feel free to comment.

I just bought a Canon Lide 60 to replace my old scanner. I use it to scan stuff for my weekly strip Grumbles. Good things include cheap price ($80 us), Mac compatible, decent included software, and USB powered.

I’ve been idly looking at new scanners… the Epson Perfection 4490 seems to get overall good marks, and can be found for between $230 and $250.

I’ve had one HP scanner, one Microtek scanner and two Epson scanners in the last 15 years. The HP lasted just past the three year warranty. It was a great scanner though. The Microtek died within months, or was it weeks? Feh. I still have the two Epsons – I only bought the expensive second one to be able to scan at 11×17. Epson 3490 ~100 USD. 3590 ~120.
