-Link- NYT on Kirby

by

The New York Times has a short article by Brent Staples on Jack Kirby and the increasing recognition he’s getting for his contributions in some circles. The article seems to have been edited down a bit (it mentions two upcoming books about Kirby in passing, without ever getting around to specifying what they are), but is pretty good, and suggests that a movie based on Kirby’s life would be in order.

I assumed he was probably referring to the two planned Evanier books (one of which is coming out soon as you know) — but if there are any other noteworthy books about Kirby “in the works,” I’d love to know about them! Hopefully anyone with any info or good guesses might post something here.

Yeah, I assumed that the reference was to Evanier’s two books, but it read oddly by mentioning that, referring to Evanier as Kirby’s biographer, but not actually mentioning the immediately upcoming book by name. The other book that might be referred to is the 50th issue of THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR, which is being published as a big double sized book late this year.

I’m afraid reporting at the New York Times just isn’;t what it used to be. If they can not get details about Jack’s life down on paper correctly, I hate to read their stories on the so-called real world.
