Panels – A most fabulous mechanism

by

“A most fabulous mechanism” is a pretty good description of almost any Kirby machine. I’d certainly hate to leave one behind if I was forced to destroy my volcano based lair.

Panels – ZINNNG

Though he’d get a lot better very quickly, Kirby’s early stuff is a lot of fun, rough edge and all, especially in showing expressions on faces and conveying movement.

Panels – Ben likes his cake

Ah, that’s the spirit of teamwork that you like to see.

But my favourite part of this panel is the giant hunk of cake that Ben is having with his coffee.

Panels – Silent Fox

That’s a great looking ancient face of experience. A lot of nice throwbacks to Kirby’s long history in western comics in this issue, too.

Mark Evanier posts that he’s in the home-stretch of compiling content for his upcoming KIRBY: KING OF COMICS tome. If you have a Kirby original that you think the book wouldn’t be complete without, and can provide a high quality scan quickly, now is the time to contact Evanier about it.

Panels – Great Day in the Mornin’!

Meet Dubbilex (so named “because his powers are still unknown”. Yeah, I don’t quite get it, either), greatest of the D.N.Aliens.

Comic Book Resources has an article about the Kirby panel at the recent San Diego Con. Sounds like some interesting stuff coming up, including info about THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR #50 and a hint of something upcoming from Joe Simon. A full transcript of the panel will presumably show up in a future TJCK as previous ones have.
