NYCC: Kirby 100 Cosplay photo, Sunday 1pm!

Are you cosplaying a Jack Kirby created or co-created character at New York Comic-Con this Sunday? If so, we invite you to join us in commemorating Jack Kirby’s centennial birthday year with a photo shoot on Sunday, October 9th at 1pm.

We’ll choose a location as soon as we can, and will have more information at our booth #1040, here on our web page, and on the various social channels!

We’ll be set up at booth 1040 in the small press area (where the ceiling is low in the center of the main floor of the Javits Center).

On Friday, October 7th our Acting Executive Director Rand Hoppe will participate in the panel “Will Eisner / Jack Kirby : Two Centuries of Genius”  at 1:30PM in Panel Room 1B03 with host Danny Fingeroth, Paul Levitz (Will Eisner: Champion of the Graphic Novel), and Charles Kochman (Abrams ComicArts).

Here we go! Off to celebrating 100 years of Jack Kirby. What are we planning? Well, quite a bit, but none of it is solid enough to report!

New Print & T-Shirt editions at San Diego this year!

Get ready, all you San Diego comic-con Kirby fans! Come visit booth 5520, where we’re offering a new limited edition print – this time Kirby’s pencil art spaceman that he gave to fellow cartoonist Don Heck as a wedding present in 1966:


AND a new edition of Dylan Todd’s “King”  t-shirt – this time with Dylan’s “MIracle” color scheme!


The yellow and green ink are eye popping neon/day-glo/fluorescent ink, and, that’s right – we’re going to have some Ladies’ sizes!

The 25″ by 17″ Spaceman print will sell for $50 – and there are only 30 in this edition. The Miracle King shirt will sell for $20.

We’ll also have the Black Galactic Head t-shirt, the Psychedelic Flyer long sleeve, the When It Is Spring Ladies v-neck, Foxhole posters, Scioli-Depelley “Pvt. Kirby” mini comic, and more!

Congratulations to Jean Depelley!

Jean Depelley’s biography of Jack Kirby, titled “Jack Kirby, Le Super-Héros de la Bande Dessinée” was recently awarded Le Prix Papiers Nickeles SoBD for 2015. The prize, a joint project between SoBD, an annual comics fair in Paris, and Papiers Nickeles, a long running French cartoon and comics journal, acknowledges the best book on comics and graphic heritage.

Jean, a contributor to The Jack Kirby Collector and the Kirby Museum’s The Kirby Effect, as well as co-curator of the 2015 “Jack Kirby: King of Comics” display at the Angoulême International Comics Festival, spent at least five years researching and writing the extensive two-volume biography published by Neofelis Editions,

Jack Kirby Science Fiction panel this Saturday, December 5th, 1pm

Love Jack Kirby’s work? Love Science Fiction? Well, if you’re in the New York City Metropolitan Area this Saturday, come on over to  Winter Con at New York City’s Resort World Casino!

At 1pm in Winter Con’s Panel Room, Kirby Museum co-founder Rand Hoppe teams up with Nightworld and the Kirby Collector’s “Kirby As A Genre” writer Adam McGovern will take a tour of Jack Kirby’s science fiction concepts.
