In the misty reaches of the prehistoric past—in the days before the fall of the great lizards—there lived a creature, the likes of which the world had never seen. ANCIENT'S EVENING -- Jack Kirby's DEVIL DINOSAUR

DDD #10 wrote an excellent examination of Devil Dinosaur's place in Jack's career.

Kurt Busiek

DDD #6 had this exchange with writer Kurt Busiek:

Kurt, I seem to remember you once mentioning that you got a chance to write Devil Dinosaur once?

"For a page. It's in a MARVEL AGE ANNUAL, though I'm not sure of the issue number. We did a preview-packed story in which a mysterious caller (me) was calling various Marvel superheroes to get info on what they were up to, culminating in a big ol' superhero battle at the Marvel offices (and the on-panel debut of the Phone Ranger).

Anyway, the preview pages were written and drawn, for the most part, by people connected to the actual books. I wrote the framing sequence, plus a one-page sequence in which the Mystery Caller calls the wrong DD, and gets to talk to Moon-Boy for a while about the Valley of Flame mail-order catalog ("Gifts from the Dawn of Time," including the Devil's Brew Coffeemaking System), Small Folk Condominiums, and suchlike, with Devil grumbling in the background.

It was a delight, and I'd love to write Devil for longer than that someday."

Kurt later added that the artist was Richard Howell, inked by Andy Mushynsky.
