I picked up the magazine entitled Tate Etc. with the sub heading \u201cThe Art Magazine that RESPECTS your intelligence!\u201d (couldn\u2019t pass up a joke!). It\u2019s a British publication and Inside there is an article by John Carlin entitled \u201cThe Real Comic Book Heroes\u201d. I have not read it yet but it is accompanied by a nice full page of the Original Art that appears on the over (cover to Captain America # 108). It\u2019s always nice to see Kirby represented in fine art magazines, not the first time I\u2019ve seen him there and I\u2019m sure it won\u2019t be the last. Of course, we all know Kirby is Art with a capital A. I\u2019m glad the rest of the world is discovering this as well.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You can see the cover and article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/tateetc\/issue9\/realcomicbookheroes.htm\">here<\/a>.  The Kirby mention in the article is fairly brief, but interesting.  In part it reads:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Echoes of [William Blake&#8217;s] flattened muscular style reverberate throughout the comic\u2019s heroic phase, particularly by artists such as Jack Kirby (1917\u20131994), creator of Captain America, The Hulk, X-Men and the overall look of Marvel Comics.
