I have to say calling the Fly (1959) a rip-off of the movie The Fly (1957) is pretty much a stretch. The only common element is the name.

The Fly (1959) was clearly a rip-off of The Fly (1957) movie starring Vincent Price.

As to our boys being sued by DC over their Shield revamp, such a lawsuit would’ve had no merit, since the character was nothing remotely close to Superman. (Marvel quibbling about Cap America contract rights is a whole different matter, of course.)

I also have to wonder what would have happened if Simon and Kirby’s work on Silver-Spider (1953) would have been more successful had they instead just called it Spider-Man!

I do not remember any Kirby Sick story in TJKC, but I would not be surprised. Boy do we need an index for TJKC.

Didn’t Kirby do at least one full-length story for “Sick,” earlier than ’66? I seem to recall seeing the art in TJKC…
