Yes I have heard about Mort's problems from a number of sources including Joe's "The Comic Book Makers". But I have no independant information on the subject. Joe has only occasionally brought it up in our conversations and only then to repeat what he wrote in his book. And like you I would not want "to be reinforcing a rumor". So far all the work that I have seen was good work, although the quality can vary widely. But if Mort did have problems I would not be surprised to find it reflected in his art. So your Treasure story could be very interesting.

Wow, beautiful, unseen stuff. I am only halfway through, but let me say that Mort Meskin does appear in another issue of Treasure. I have an earlier one that has a particulary bad story he did (which seems to have been finished by someone else). Was this when he was having his 'breakdown". It's been hinted at and speculated about in several interviews, that Meskin had psyhchological problems at some point in the elate forties and had to be admitted for treatment somewhere. I don't know how much of this is true and hate to be reinforcing a rumor if it turns out not to be true, but even the site of his kids mentions some sort of problem at that time. My guess always was that it was the reason Meskin and Robinson went their seperate ways. But they do turn up together at the early Prize romances, as you pointed out. So was the break-down after that or does it indicate an attempt by Robinson to get Meskin on his way again after the breakdown? I'll put the earlier Treasure story on the list of things to keep apart and scan if and when I come across it again.
