Happy Birthday Jack!
Today marks the 93rd anniversary of Jack Kirby‘s birth and to celebrate KIRBY-VISION proudly presents our second portrait gallery in honour of ‘The King of Comics’.
British illustrator Jonathan Edwards made his debut in the influential comic magazine Deadline. Since then has forged a successful career as a commercial illustration and a long standing relationship with The Guardian newspaper providing editorial art. He is also the curator of Draw Serge, an illustrative tribute blog dedicated to the French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. You can find more of Jonathan’s energetic work at his website and blog.
A big shout-out to all the artists who took the time to contribute to today’s gallery. And of course a huge thank you to Jack Kirby whose inspiration lives on. Long live The King!

Happy Birthday, Jack!
Today marks the 92nd anniversary of Jack Kirby‘s birth and to celebrate KIRBY-VISION proudly presents a portrait gallery in honour of ‘The King of Comics’.
First up we have emmy award nominated puppeteer Steve Sherman.
As inker/letterer for the majority of Jack’s work throughout the 70′s and 80′s, Mike Royer, is well known to fans of the site. My thanks to Mike for his permission to use this portrait and to Rob Steibel for submitting the commisioned artwork.
KIRBY-VISION would like to send out a huge thank you to all the artists who took the time to contribute to the gallery. Despite looming deadlines and moving houses (and other such excuses) you really pulled out all the stops to pay tribute to Jack’s inspiration.

Mr Fantastic vs Doctor Doom
New York Writer/Artist J.A.Fludd contributes this portrait of Reed and Victor dukeing it out. J.A. was a contributor to Gay Comics in the early 90′s and currently sells his art online and by commission. A lifelong fan of Jack Kirby and The Fantastic Four, J.A. has written several articles about both at his Quantum Blog. More of J.A.’s artwork can be found at his art blog and Comicspace.
